Refund Policy

How cancellations, refunds, subscriptions, and billing disputes are handled for paid services.

Our Philosophy

Kulohi was created to support people and families through meaningful moments across a lifetime. We understand that circumstances change, and we strive to handle refund requests fairly, transparently, and with compassion.

This Refund Policy explains when refunds may be available for memberships, subscriptions, optional add-ons, and Legacy-related services.

Kulohi is a product of Gremlin Labs LLC.

1. Membership Charges

Kulohi memberships are billed in advance according to the billing cycle selected during checkout.

Unless otherwise required by applicable law or described in this policy, membership fees are generally non-refundable once a billing period has begun.

You may cancel your membership at any time to prevent future renewals.

Cancellation does not automatically result in a refund for the current billing period.

2. Trial Periods

If Kulohi offers a free trial or promotional trial period, you may cancel before the trial ends to avoid being charged.

Once a paid membership begins, this Refund Policy applies.

3. Accidental Charges

If you believe you were charged in error, including duplicate charges or billing mistakes, please contact us as soon as possible.

After reviewing the circumstances, we may issue a full or partial refund where appropriate.

4. Technical Issues

If a significant technical problem prevents you from reasonably using Kulohi, we encourage you to contact our Support team before requesting a refund.

Whenever possible, we will first attempt to resolve the issue.

If we determine that Kulohi was substantially unavailable due to an issue within our control, we may issue an appropriate refund, account credit, or membership extension.

5. Membership Cancellation

You may cancel automatic renewal at any time through your account settings or by contacting Support.

After cancellation:

  • Your membership remains active until the end of the current billing period.
  • Future renewal charges will not occur.
  • Your account may transition to any available free or limited-access experience, if offered.

6. Founding Memberships

Founding Membership pricing is offered as a special introductory benefit.

If a Founding Membership is canceled, promotional pricing or exclusive benefits may not be available again if the membership is restarted.

7. Optional Add-ons

Optional purchases, including avatar features or other premium enhancements, follow the same refund principles unless otherwise stated during purchase.

Some digital services begin immediately after purchase and therefore may not be eligible for refunds.

8. Legacy Book Orders

Printed Legacy Books are custom-created using your personal content.

Because every Legacy Book is individually produced, printed, and prepared specifically for a member or family, orders generally cannot be canceled or refunded once production has begun.

If a book arrives damaged or contains a printing defect, please contact us within a reasonable period after delivery so we can review the issue and, when appropriate, provide a replacement or other resolution.

9. Compassionate Circumstances

Kulohi recognizes that families may experience unexpected life events.

If a member passes away shortly after a membership renewal, an authorized family member or designated representative may contact us to request a review.

Where appropriate and consistent with applicable law, we may provide:

  • a prorated refund for unused membership time,
  • assistance with account closure,
  • support for Legacy features,
  • or another reasonable resolution.

Requests may require documentation sufficient to verify the circumstances.

Each request is reviewed individually with care and respect.

10. Fraud Prevention

Refunds may be declined where we reasonably believe a request involves fraud, abuse, chargeback manipulation, or intentional misuse of the Service.

11. Chargebacks

If you believe a billing error occurred, we encourage you to contact us before initiating a chargeback through your financial institution.

Many billing issues can be resolved much more quickly through our Support team.

12. Changes to This Policy

As Kulohi evolves, we may update this Refund Policy.

Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last Updated” date and, when appropriate, providing additional notice.
