Kulohi believes...

Technology should help people remain independent by strengthening conversation, preserving memories, protecting privacy, and supporting meaningful family relationships.

Robin is designed to become a familiar voice that fits naturally into everyday life, while the member decides what is remembered and what is shared.

ElliQ believes...

Technology can proactively encourage healthier routines, activity, engagement, and wellness through a dedicated companion device.

Its experience centers on structured daily interaction, a broad activity library, and optional caregiver coordination.

A simple illustration of how the two approaches can feel during an ordinary day.

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers to the practical questions families ask most often.

Can I use both Kulohi and ElliQ?

Yes. They are separate services, and there is no technical reason a household could not use both. The practical question is whether the two experiences add distinct value or create unnecessary overlap for the person using them.

Does either companion require Wi-Fi?

Both rely on an internet connection for their AI and communication features. ElliQ's official terms specifically require its device, a valid account, Wi-Fi, and electricity. Kulohi works through a compatible connected phone, tablet, or web browser.

Do these companions replace family or human care?

No. Both are designed to support everyday connection and independence, not replace family, friendship, professional care, or human judgment.

Can either companion call 911 in an emergency?

Neither should be treated as an emergency-response service. ElliQ states that it cannot access 911, although it can help a user contact a primary contact for non-emergency support. Kulohi is not medical care or emergency response. A phone or dedicated emergency service should remain available.

How do privacy and family access differ?

Kulohi separates private conversations with Robin from permission-based family sharing through Kindred. ElliQ offers an optional Caregiver App for communication, reminders, goals, activity information, and user-enabled updates. Review the exact permissions with the person who will use the companion before enabling family access in either product.

Can either preserve stories and memories?

Yes. Kulohi centers memory preservation through Robin, Life Stories, photographs, and member-controlled sharing. ElliQ now offers ElliQ Memoir for stories, photos, and reflections. The difference is less about whether memory exists and more about how deeply it is woven into the companion experience and how the person wants family involved.
